Government gave a fresh push to convert the existing 44 central labour laws into four codes. The parliament cleared it in September, 2020.With this 29 Labour & Employment laws have been codified in four Labour Codes viz.

The codes on Wages, Industrial Relations, Social Security and Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions have been introduced with the promise of making India’s labour laws modern and better suited to the needs of changing business environment. Covering almost all categories of employees, the new codes aim to expand the social security net, regulate conditions of employment and streamline.
